Light blue crocheted fish keychain

Here is a fun and easy crochet pattern for an amigurumi fish keychain!

Materials needed:

  • Size 2.25mm crochet hook
  • Small ball of Patons Grace or similar cotton yarn
  • 2 – 6mm black safety eyes
  • Fiber fill
  • Embroidery/yarn needle
  • Sewing pins (for attaching fins)
  • Keyring or lobster clasp

Body: (in continuous rounds)

  • R1: 4sc in magic ring
  • R2: *1sc, inc* around (6sts)
  • R3: *1sc, inc* around (9sts)
  • R4: *2sc, inc* around (12)
  • R5: *2sc, inc* around (16)
  • R6: sc around (16)
  • R7: *3sc, inc* around (20)
    • attach eyes between rows 6 and 7, 6 stitches apart
  • R8-10: sc around (20)
  • R11: *3sc, dec* around (16)
  • R12: sc around (16)
  • R13: *2sc, dec* around (12)
    • stuff the body
  • R14: *1sc, dec* around (6)
  • R15: start of tail, squish the previous 6 stitches flat and crochet through both rows at once to close the body and start the tail – sl st, 3sc, turn
  • R16: ch 3, 2dc in same st, 2dc in next st, 3 dc in last st, turn
  • R17: ch 3, 2dc in same st, *fpdc, dc* 3 times, dc in last st
  • Finish off and weave in ends

Side fins: (make 2)

  • in a magic ring – ch2, 1hdc, 2dc, 1hdc
  • pull tight and leave long tail for attaching to body

Top fin:

  • R1: ch7, turn
  • R2: sc in 2nd from hook, 1hdc, 2dc, 1hdc, 1sc (6sts)
  • fasten off with long tail for attaching to body

Attach the side fins by pinning to the body in the desired location and sewing to body. Center the top fin and pin in place. Sew on and weave in all the ends. Keep it as is, or attach a keychain through the “lips” and your little fish is complete! Share pictures if you make one. I’d love to see!
