Grama’s Knitted Dishcloth

My Grandma taught me to knit when I was in middle school. She gave me 2 simple patterns to practice with; a scarf and a dishcloth. I love making these for my family. They make great washcloths too!

Knitted Dishcloth

I use “Peaches and Creme” or “Sugar ‘n Cream” cotton yarn. I can usually get 2 cloths out of one skein.

I use size 6 knitting needles.

Here is the pattern:

Row 1: Cast on 4 stitches

Row 2: knit across

Row 3: k2, yo, knit across

Row 4-50: repeat row 3 until you have 45-50 stitches (depending on how big you want your cloth)

Row 51: k1, k2tog, yo, k2tog, knit across

Row 52-end: repeat row 5 until there are 4 stitches left on needle

Final row: cast off

Weave in the ends!
